| Alpine completes breakthrough in Singapore Metro tunnel Alpine, the second-largest construction group in Austria, has attained final breakthrough of tunnel construction work to expand the Singapore Metro. The section under construction comprises 4 new stations along 8.3 kilometres of tunnel. The contract value is 190.67 million euro. The first Metro contract section worth 73.4 million euro, which was also awarded to Alpine, was successfully completed at the end of May 2009. Construction of the 33-km loop line, which was tendered by the Land Transport Authority of Singapore (LTA) in five stages, started in 2003.
