Siemens gets order from Russia

Mondi Group, a leading international manufacturer of paper and packaging products, has contracted the Siemens Industry Solutions Division to equip board machine BM21 and a roll slitter in the Russian factory in Syktyvkar with new electrical equipment and drive technology. The project is part of an expansion program aimed at increasing the annual production capacity to 755,000 metric tons of pulp and 968,000 metric tons of paper and board. Siemens has already equipped paper machine PM14 for this purpose and is now supplying the steam turbine-generator set for power generation and the electrical equipment for the entire pulp line. The total volume of the order amounts to around 38 million euros. Commissioning of the modernized pulp line is scheduled for summer 2010.

In Syktyvkar, the capital of the Komi Republic in Russia, Mondi operates a pulp and paper factory for the production of uncoated fine paper and board. In order to increase the production capacity, Mondi intends to spend around 525 million euros by 2010 on expansion of the location. This is the largest investment in the Russian pulp and paper industry since the middle of the nineteen-seventies.
