| Schindler posts good performance in a difficult environment Swiss elevator and escalator manufacturer Schindler delivered a good result for the first half of 2009 despite the difficult economic environment. Operating profit increased by 13% and profit rose by 2% compared to the first half of 2008. However, orders received and operating revenue were both impacted by the global economic downturn as well as negative foreign exchange impacts.
