| Thyssenkrupp Elevator completes initiative at Middleton facility ThyssenKrupp Elevator, Americas Business Unit, the largest producer of elevators in North America, announced the completion of a major automation initiative at its Middleton, Tennessee manufacturing facility. This initiative includes the installation of a new conveyor-to-assembly system by Salvagnini America, Inc. and the installation of a powder coat paint system. Salvagnini is a worldwide leader in designing and building state-of-the-art systems for processing sheet metal. The automated conveyor-to-assembly system at the Middleton plant produces the elevator entrances for ThyssenKrupp's hydraulic, Machine Room-Less and traction elevators. The new system has the capacity to manufacture in excess of 80,000 entrances per year, a 35% increase in productivity. The system will also improve the scrap rate by up to 33%, saving $1.6 million annually. The new powder coat system eliminates the use of oil-based paint and solvents, which in turn virtually eradicates hazardous waste produced by the facility. By decreasing the paint's overall drying time, the powder coat system generates a reduction in energy consumption by up to 45%. write your comments about the article :: © 2009 Construction News :: home page |
