| Heat pump country report online The country report on Switzerland is now available for downloading from the website of the European Heat Pump Summit – powered by Chillventa. Heat pump sales in Switzerland have grown constantly for some 25 years. With another strong increase of over 23 per cent in 2008, the number of heat pumps sold in a year topped 20,000 for the first time. 73 per cent of them (previous year 83.3 per cent) are installed in new buildings and 27 per cent (previous year 16.7 per cent) in renovated old buildings. This clear trend to renovation of old buildings is also shown by the comparison of gas, oil and heat pumps. Oil-fired boilers are being replaced with heat pumps. The heating market in 2008 was divided into 41 per cent heat pumps, 35 per cent gas-fired boilers and 24 per cent oil-fired boilers.
