Technip wins contract for the “Connect” project in Germany

French engineering firm Technip has been awarded an engineering, procurement and construction management contract by Shell for the first phase of its "Connect" project in Germany. By connecting two existing refineries in Godorf and Wesseling Shell will create the largest refinery in Germany: the Rheinland refinery.

This first phase of the project will be implemented in the Wesseling refinery. It includes the modification of process units (desulphurisation and hydrogen manufacturing) as well as the construction of new facilities. The units at Wesseling will also be used for the desulphurization of gas oil produced in Godorf.

Technip's operating center in Düsseldorf, Germany, will execute the contract, which is scheduled to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2010.
