France's Vinci wins contract for Moscow–St Petersburg motorway

Vinci, concession operator of Moscow–St Petersburg motorway North-West Concession Company (NWCC), a consortium comprising Vinci Concessions, leader, and Russian partners, has signed a concession contract for the first section of a toll motorway between Moscow and St Petersburg with Rosavtodor, the grantor, in the presence of the Russian Minister of Transport, Mr Levitin.

The contract calls for the design, finance, construction and operation of a 43 km section of motorway which will alleviate congestion on the existing M10 link between Sheremetyevo International Airport, Moscow's main airport, and the city centre. Total construction cost is estimated at approximately 1 billion Euros.

The concession contract, covering a period of 30 years with a possible five-year extension, will come into force during the first half of 2010 once financing arrangements have been completed, and will be followed by a 36 month construction phase.
