Main themes for European Heat Pump Summit announced

The first European Heat Pump Summit – powered by Chillventa – takes place in the CongressCenter Nuremberg on 9-10 September. The summit deals with heat pump technologies in the industrial, commercial, residential, heating & cooling, and components & equipment segments.

NürnbergMesse is organizing the new dialogue forum in close cooperation with the honorary sponsors IEA-HPP, ehpa, bwp, DKV and IZW. "The focus is on the possibilities and limitations of heat pumps in private, commercial and industrial applications, " emphasizes Gabriele Hannwacker, Exhibition Director at NürnbergMesse.

The event is intended for the following target groups: energy consultants, energy utilities, decision-makers from politics and federal, state and local authorities, planners, plant assemblers, heat pump manufacturers (engineering – sales – marketing), operators of municipal and commercial properties (housing development companies) and operators of industrial properties.

Main themes at the European Heat Pump Summit:

* Renewable energy
The heat pump has been recognized in the EU Directive on Renewable Energy Resources as a technology for using geothermal, hydrothermal and aerothermal renewable energy since the end of 2008. The resulting potentials in Europe and the individual countries are shown. The possibilities and the specific tasks of the industry in utilizing these potentials for reducing greenhouse gases and using renewable energy resources are shown and discussed.

* Potential for heat pumps
The potential for heat pumps varies between countries and application segments. The development in individual markets, such as Finland, the Mediterranean region and France, or in market segments like commerce and industry is to be presented.

The strong European growth in the past years requires accurate analysis and assessment in order to invest in the right countries and market segments in the future. This is of great importance especially for decision-makers from the heat pump manufacturers. What requirements dominate and what market and sales strategy is necessary? Is the product spectrum right? What new requirements must be fulfilled?

* Components and product development
The results of developments of components and heat pump plants show great progress over the past months. These developments have a large influence on heat pump technology and improve the already high performance figures. Power control of compressors, fans and pumps is a feature found increasingly often in the manufacturers' broad spectrum of products. Multistage plants allow high forward temperatures with high performance figures. This is a clear answer for the demand in old buildings and hot water production in commercial applications. Bivalent systems are increasingly offered for the many old buildings and permit large energy savings and heavily reduced CO2 emissions at manageable investment cost. This also includes the increased use of water-to-water heat pumps with and without solar combination.

These developments are presented by component and heat pump manufacturers and offer engineers and users the opportunity to update on the latest state of the art and discuss developments with the experts at the presentation itself or at the "foyer exhibition".

* Heat pump applications
The applications of heat pumps in specific projects with outputs ranging from low to very high provide a comprehensive impression of the present possibilities. The plans and solutions for specific projects are shown, which give the audience detailed insights into the plants installed and show costs, savings and experiences. The applications can cover projects from clothes driers, hot water, heat pumps in existing buildings (private, commercial, municipal and industrial), industrial applications (wood plants, paint plants etc.), food production, and supermarket applications to the use of waste water in connection with district heating and cooling.

* Innovative systems and outlook on future applications
Innovative systems for heating and cooling are to be presented, such as VRF systems powered by gas or electric motor, air-to-air heat pumps, small sorption heat pumps, combinations using solar energy, and other processes.
