Zumtobel opened Stefan Behnisch exhibition

During the May 5th opening of an exhibit of his work entitled "Versatile Aspects of Content Motivated Architecture" in Zumtobel's New York City showroom, Stefan Behnisch offered insight into his recent projects and how they address the issue of sustainability. A world-renowned architect and long-time advocate of sustainable building design, Mr. Behnisch discussed several innovative completed and in-progress projects - including the Brooklyn Arts Tower in New York; Harvard's Allston Science Complex in Boston, MA; Norddeutsche Landesbank in Hannover, Germany; and the Spa Baths at Bad Aibling, Germany - and described how the buildings' designs and features, including lighting, contributed to the projects' sustainability.

During his talk, Behnisch explained that anyone can design a sustainable building, but the "trick" is to design a sustainable building that is comfortable, and that the end-user wants to spend time in. This statement parallels Humanergy Balance, Zumtobel's own approach to sustainability, defined as "lighting solutions for the balance among the environment, energy, and humanity."
