| Success for the Zénith at the RIBA Awards The Zénith concert venue in Saint-Etienne has been granted a prestigious RIBA Award. The first purpose built, state-of-the-art performance venue in the Rhône-Alpes region of France, the Zénith is characterised by a cantilevered aerodynamic roof, which contributes to a highly efficient environmental strategy and has become a bold symbol for the city's regeneration. Grant Brooker, an executive director at Foster + Partners, said: "We are absolutely delighted and I would like to congratulate the full team involved in the project, particularly our collaborators Cabinet Berger. Winning this prestigious award is a wonderful credit to our clients, the Mayor and the people of Saint-Etienne Metropole, who initiated the Zénith, put their faith in us and supported the project at every stage." From 2009 the RIBA is no longer granting RIBA European Awards. If the building is in the UK or is in the rest of the European Union and is designed by a practice whose principal office is in the UK, it will be eligible for an RIBA Award. If the building is outside the European Union or is in the rest of the EU and designed by a practice based outside the UK it will be entered for the RIBA International Awards. write your comments about the article :: © 2009 Construction News :: home page |
