| First public structure with bearing walls and beams of glass  In a structure as theatrical as the shows for which it sells tickets, the TKTS Booth, long a fixture in the heart of Times Square, has been made over into a glass structure that would not have been possible without the strength and protection of DuPont SentryGlas interlayers. For more than 30 years, New York City theater-goers have bought TKTS theater tickets from a construction trailer in Times Square. The new frameless, all-glass structure adds a modern twist to this highly popular attraction. Sales now are conducted at ticket windows sheltered by a red glass awning supported by glass walls, both made with layers of DuPont SentryGlas interlayers.According to project engineer Michael Ludvik of Dewhurst, MacFarlane and Partners, safety was an obvious consideration in designing the all-glass public structure at this busy New York intersection. "This is the first public structure with glass bearing walls in the world and it is also the world's largest publicly accessible glass structure," said Ludvik. "The SentryGlas interlayers, with superior strength and rigidity, contribute to public safety."
