| Hangar upgrading with Megadoor Qantas Engineering has been awarded a three year contract by the RAAF to convert four A330 aircraft to mid air refuellers. As part of the sensitive project a decision was taken to upgrade the old Ansett hangar originally built without any doors. The Megadoors were selected with a configuration of 70700 x 20000/14000/10000 mm, which will allow the hangar to be used after the com-pletion of the project to accommodate B747/ B777 and or two narrow-bodied aircraft side by side. An independent goal post frame was installed to support the doors and to convey the loads to the existing structure. Even with an undulating apron level across the entrance to the hangar, the Megadoor can be adjusted to form an excellent seal from the elements. The individual door sections can be operated independently or all together and raised to any height to allow for vehicular access. The Megadoor is backed by extended warranties to the key components and serviced by our appointed contractor in Australia. Megadoor is ideally suited to new builds and refurbishment of existing facilities with a reliability record second to none. write your comments about the article :: © 2009 Construction News :: home page |
