Parsons kicks off APM at Miami International Airport

Parsons announced that the Parsons–Odebrecht Joint Venture (POJV) in conjunction with the Miami–Dade Aviation Department to kick off construction of the new 1.27-mile Automated People Mover (APM) at Miami International Airport (MIA).

POJV's $259 million design-build contract includes constructing the guideway and stations as well as installing the full turnkey operating system and delivering eight state-of-the-art Crystal Mover APM vehicles.

The MIA APM system will run between the airport and the Miami Intermodal Center (MIC), an off-airport multimodal transportation center that includes transfers to regional rail, bus, and rental car services. The system will use cutting-edge Crystal Mover vehicle technology provided by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries America, Inc. Crystal Mover vehicle technology is presently operating at several major airports.
