| MIPIM conferences offer crisis solutions What are the major trends in the fast-changing real estate markets? Are some territories less affected by the crisis than others? How can businesses find the right partners? When will things get back to normal? The MIPIM 2009 conference programme will offer concrete answers to these questions, providing the sector's key players valuable insight into business opportunities and a strategic global vision. MIPIM 2009 will give major coverage to investment issues in the property sector. The exclusive MIPIM Summit event, to be held in private on Thursday 12 March, will bring together four prominent experts: Dietrich Heidtmann (Germany), Managing Director, Morgan Stanley, Hans Op't Veld (Netherlands), Head of Listed Real Estate, PGGM, Peter Reilly (UK), Managing Director, JP Morgan Asset Management and Joe Valente (Germany), Head of Portfolio Management & Strategy, Allianz Real Estate GmbH, to discuss the future of global investment in front of an audience of senior international investors. A series of lectures entitled "On the Road Again, " will also cover such highly topical issues as: Who is wagering on investments today? Who is lending and under what conditions? And which are the most effective real estate investment products? In addition to investing, the MIPIM conferences will survey the market situation in certain territories and highlight any emerging investment opportunities. Special attention will be paid to France, with a panel of prestigious speakers such as Benoît du Passage, CEO France and Southern Europe, Jones Lang LaSalle, Mathilde Lemoine, Chief Economist at HSBC France, and Philippe Zivkovic, Chairman of BNP Paribas Real Estate. The United States will also go under the microscope in a conference titled "Is it the right time to invest in U.S. real property? When and how?" A session for member countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council will consider the future prospects of this rapidly-changing, high potential zone. And there will also be a conference on the Russian Federation involving three experts: Dr. Veniamin Golubitsky, President of Renova StroyGroup, Gnusarev Alexander, Chairman of the Board, United Industrial Corporation (OPK) and Darrell Stanaford, Managing Director, CB Richard Ellis. To complete the analysis of different national markets, "the Speed Matching" interactive conference sessions enable industry professionals to present their projects to an audience of investors in seven minutes, offering a more concrete approach to opportunities in different regions. The three sessions will feature 15 projects in Central and Eastern Europe, Asia and the USA, and a session devoted to five investment fund strategies. Another highlight of the MIPIM conference programme will be the focus on local authorities, which act as vital partners in helping real estate professionals bring their projects to market during a crisis. This programme will offer a session scheduled for Tuesday, March 10 at 3 pm, moderated by Ariella Masboungi, Architect in Chief – Responsible for the "urban project" program, French Ministry of Ecology and Sustainable Development with representatives of French local authorities designed to clarify the challenges in building tomorrow's cities. A broad debate around sustainable development, plus the closed-door "Mayors' Think Tank" event for 80 international mayors, will complete the discussions involving mayors and local authorities. A further series of conferences will discuss more specialised topics. Thursday, March 12 will be dedicated entirely to the theme of "Hotels and Tourism, " with four panels dealing with issues related to investment, the European market and the growing collaboration between hotel chains and the fashion and design industry. Although committed to sharing the views of experts, the MIPIM conference programme will also air the participants' own viewpoints in a session led by Janice Stanton (USA), Senior Managing Director, Capital Markets Group, Cushman & Wakefield, who will close the event by acting as the professionals' mouthpiece. She will evaluate the general mood of MIPIM participants concerning the current situation in the real estate industry, and summarize what they take to be its future prospects. write your comments about the article :: © 2009 Construction News :: home page |
