Amec awarded contract for West Burton gas-fired power station

Amec, the international engineering and project management company, has been awarded a circa £100 million contract by EDF Energy for the mechanical, electrical and instrumentation installation at EDF Energy's new 1,300MW Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power station at its West Burton site in Nottinghamshire, UK.

The contract will see Amec play a major role in taking the station to completion in 2011, including the installation of the gas turbines, heat recovery steam generator and the balance of plant. The company begins mobilisation and planning work immediately and is expected to start on site in March.
