| Parsons announces that Phase 2 of RDU Terminal 2 is under way Parsons, the program/construction manager (PM/CM) for Raleigh-Durham International Airport's (RDU) Terminal 2 capital improvement program, announced that construction is under way on Phase 2. Phase 2, which began in November 2008, will see the total aircraft gates grow from 19 to 36. In addition, a third ticketing island with 20 positions and 2 additional baggage claim carousels will be added during this phase. Phase 1 of Terminal 2 officially opened for business on October 26, 2008—the new terminal features a modern design, a variety of specialty retail shops and restaurants, and a new processing area for international travelers.
