CH2M Hill engineers honored as new faces of engineering

Two engineers from CH2M Hill, a global full-service engineering, procurement, construction, and operations firm, were selected as New Faces of Engineering 2009 by the National Engineers Week Foundation to celebrate Engineers Week, February 15-21. The 14 honorees in this national program are the "best of the best"—the next generation of engineers whose innovation, leadership and commitment to excellence are helping to better our world and inspire young people to consider a career in engineering.

Rolana Harris and Jamesia Hobbs, both chemical process engineers in CH2M Hill's Energy and Chemicals group, will be recognized during Engineers Week.

Harris, nominated by the Project Management Institute, evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques and procedures to design inherently safe equipment for chemical manufacturing plants for various company clients.

Hobbs, nominated by the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, uses her experience across industries such as pulp and paper, chemical, polymer, and nuclear energy fields, to design efficient equipment and systems that workers in the field will use everyday.

During Engineers Week employee volunteers from more than 50 CH2M HILL offices across North America will participate in local outreach events to give classroom presentations, lead students in hands-on engineering activities, judge science fairs and MATHCOUNTS competitions, and take students on project site tours to increase understanding of and excitement about engineering.
