| Fugro announces new contracts Fugro OSAE in Bremen has been awarded three contracts for a total sum of over 7 million Euros. One project that takes place in Saudi Arabian waters in the Red Sea is being carried out by the large survey catamaran Meridian for a major port construction project. The technical aspects of the survey are being supervised by the British Hydrographic Office with whom Fugro has extensive experience working in British waters. The survey project is expected to go until May and also includes a significant airborne marine laser work element. Fugro OSAE was also awarded a contract with Nexans Norway for a high voltage power cable route survey in the Mediterranean between the Iberian Peninsula and the island of Mallorca. The main survey vessel is the Fugro Gauss which has recently been fitted with a new deep water Kongsberg EM 122 1x2 multibeam echo sounder. Finally in January 2009, Fugro were awarded the BASH 2009 multibeam survey contract from the Swedish Maritime Administration. The survey areas total over 8200 km˛ to provide the nautical charting information to ensure safe and accessible shipping fairways in Swedish waters.
