| Grove shows GMK5110-1 all-terrain crane at Intermat 2009 Manitowoc will display its latest Grove all-terrain crane, the GMK5110-1 at Intermat 2009. The crane is the fifth five-axle all-terrain crane. Neil Hollingshead, Manitowoc's global product manager for all-terrain cranes and rough-terrain cranes, said the new GMK5110-1 was developed from Grove's strong history in the five-axle sector. "The crane replaces the hugely successful GMK5100, but builds on that crane's heritage," he said. "It has an improved load chart when rigged with maximum counterweight, but also offers good options for traveling within the 12 t per axle limit." The Grove GMK5110-1 is a 110 t capacity crane with a 50.6 m telescopic boom. It has an 18 m swingaway jib and one 8 m and two 6 m boom extensions for further reach. Its maximum tip height is 91 m and its maximum outreach is 46 m. The crane includes all the features that appear throughout the GMK range and also features the latest carrier cab for improved ergonomics and functionality. Also new on the crane is a two-speed transfer case for greater travel efficiency at slow speeds. All crane operations, including both superstructure and carrier functions, are controlled via Manitowoc's ECOS system. Working in tandem with the ECOS system, the GMK5110-1 is also equipped with the EKS 5 Light load monitoring system. EKS monitors the crane's lifting operations at all times. It provides a warning alert for faults or errors and can transmit data to any Manitowoc Crane Care center worldwide, allowing fast and accurate diagnosis and rapid repairs. The GMK5110-1 crane is built at the Manitowoc factory in Wilhelmshaven, Germany. write your comments about the article :: © 2009 Construction News :: home page |
