Aqualia lands contracts in Spain worth over 162 million euro

Aqualia was awarded five contracts in its various business lines; the contracts are in Nerja and Manilva (Málaga), Comillas (Cantabria), Linares (Jaén) and Adeje (Tenerife). The contracts are valued at more than 162 million euro.

Nerja city government (Málaga) selected Aqualia for a public-private partnership (PPP) to manage municipal water and sewage services. Both parties will have a 50% stake in the PPP, denominated Aguas de Narixa. The 25-year contract represents a backlog of 61 million euro and includes an investment of 6.9 million euro in infrastructure over its duration.

In Manilva (Málaga), Aqualia has been awarded the contract to manage municipal water supply and sewage systems. The contract represents a backlog of 45.3 million euro.

Comillas city government (Cantabria) has awarded Aqualia a 25-year contract to manage municipal water and sewage services. This contract represents a backlog of 13.9 million euro.

Linares city government has awarded Linaqua, a PPP in which Aqualia has a stake, the contract to manage and maintain the municipal swimming pool. The contract is valued at 9.9 million euro and is for 24 years, which is the term of Linaqua's contract as municipal water company.

In Tenerife, Aqualia subsidiary Entemanser was awarded the contract to build a seawater desalination plant in La Caleta, Adeje municipality. Construction has already commenced and will be completed in 2010; together with the contract to manage the plant until 2025, it represents a backlog of 32 million euro.

In Spain, Aqualia has a 34% share of the outsourced water management market.
