| Iberdrola Ingeniería completes construction of plant in Riga Spain-based Iberdrola Ingeniería has completed construction of a 420MW combined cycle plant in Riga, Latvia, able to supply a fifth of the country's electricity needs and reduce its energy dependence by 30%. Two years ago, the Iberdrola Group won the contract not only to build the plant, but also to oversee its operation and maintenance. Worth around €300 million, this was the largest contract won by any Spanish company in Eastern Europe at the time. Once the Riga combined cycle plant comes on stream, Iberdrola Generación with oversee its operation and maintenance for a period of 12 years. This is the first contract of this type won by this business area. To perform these tasks, which will be carried out by professionals at the IOMSA (Iberdrola Operación y Mantenimiento, S.A.) subsidiary, the plant will be connected to the CMDS (monitoring, diagnosis and simulation centre), which was set up in June 2002 to control the operation of all the company's combined cycle facilities. write your comments about the article :: © 2009 Construction News :: home page |
