| Carillion celebrates arrival of Manchester Airport station’s platform British construction and support services firm Carillion joined with clients and Transport Secretary Geoff Hoon to officially open the newly constructed third platform at Manchester Airport railway station. The £15m project to build a new platform, completed as part of the wider modernisation of the West Coast Main Line, provides additional train operating flexibility and allows an increase in the number of trains running into Manchester Piccadilly station. The Transport Secretary visited the station and marked the platform's official opening by unveiling a plaque. The new platform began accepting train services in December 2008 after taking just over a year to complete. write your comments about the article :: © 2009 Construction News :: home page |
