| Carillion secures primary school contract British building and support services firm Carillion plc, has reached financial close on a contract for Nottingham City Council to provide one of the first Primary School's to be built under the UK Government's £7 billion Primary Capital Programme. Nottingham City Council was selected as one of 23 pathfinder local authorities to work with the Department for Children, Schools and Families, ahead of the national roll-out of the UK Government's Primary Strategy for Change, the funding for which was announced on 12 November 2008. The new £13 million Southwark Primary School will be built on the infant and nursery school site in Bulwell Lane, Old Basford. It will be a state-of-the-art exemplar primary school catering for 630 children aged 5 to 11 and 90 children aged 3 to 5.
