| New CMSA storage sprinkler Viking Corporation announced the availability of a new 19.6 (280) K factor storage sprinkler. The new VK592 pendent is cULus Listed and FM Approved as a Control Mode Specific Application (CMSA) sprinkler for protecting class I-IV commodities and cartoned unexpanded plastics, without the use of in-rack sprinklers. The sprinkler is UL Listed for up to 40 ft (12,2 m) ceiling heights and FM Approved up to 35 ft (10,7 m). The new VK592, which is available in 160°F (71°C) and 205°F (96°C) temperature ratings, is approved for up to 12 ft (3,7 m) spacing between sprinklers on a branch line providing greater design and installation flexibility. It also has more accommodating installation criteria for obstructions compared to ESFR sprinklers. The sprinkler's UL Listing, for example, allows it to be installed only 4 in (100 mm) from most types of bar joists. Additionally, the new CMSA sprinkler is UL Listed for concrete tee construction, which is prohibited for ESFR sprinklers. In many storage arrangements, the VK592 requires a lower overall water demand than other storage sprinklers. And, with a smaller K factor than competitive CMSA products, it will flow significantly less water given similar operating pressures. In addition to being approved for use in pre-action systems with the same water delivery as wet systems, the new CMSA sprinkler is UL Listed and FM Approved for warehouses with aisles as narrow as 4 ft (1,2 m). write your comments about the article :: © 2008 Construction News :: home page |
