Schindler provides traffic management in Zurich's Prime Tower

The tallest building in Switzerland is currently under construction in Zurich. The Prime Tower, located in the city's western quarter, will have space for 2000 office workers once it is complete in 2011. Super-fast "Schindler 7000" high-performance elevators, as well as a sophisticated traffic management system, will ensure that traffic in the 126 meter tower moves as quickly and comfortably as possible. Soon the Prime Tower will replace Basel's "Messeturm" as the country's tallest building. Construction on Zurich's new landmark started earlier this year.

Schindler will be providing efficient, vertical mobility solutions for the new office block. Among the 17 elevators being installed are nine Schindler 7000 high-rise elevators, five "Schindler 5400" passenger elevators, two "Schindler 2600" freight elevators as well as one "Special" elevator.

The Schindler 7000 high-rise elevators will be among the fastest in Switzerland, capable of speeds of five and six meters per second. These high-performance elevators will be controlled by a trailblazing traffic management system.

The hall-call destination system Miconic 10 will be managing the people flows in the Prime Tower. Passengers simply punch the number of their desired floor into a special terminal, and are immediately assigned an elevator taking the fastest route to their destination.

The Prime Tower is located in Zurich West, a former industrial quarter which is rapidly being transformed into a dynamic area or offices, cafés and shops. The completed tower is due to be handed over in spring 2011.
