| HeidelbergCement confirms EU Antitrust Authority inspection Germany’s largest cement maker HeidelbergCement has confirmed that the EU Antitrust Authority has searched premises at HeidelbergCement's headquarters in Heidelberg and offices in the UK and Benelux. HeidelbergCement has also announced that its turnover increased by 49.0% to EUR 10,809 million in the first nine months of 2008 (previous year: 7,254). This was due to the inclusion of Hanson, in particular, but the countries of Eastern Europe as well as the Benelux countries, Scandinavia, Germany, Indonesia, China, and Turkey also contributed to this growth. In the first nine months of 2008, the cement and clinker sales volumes of HeidelbergCement rose by 4.6% to 68.5 million tonnes (previous year: 65.5). Overall, the profit for the financial year increased to EUR 2,079.2 million (previous year: 1,901.2).
