Strabag to construct Wrocław bypass in Poland

A consortium around Austrian construction company Strabag has won the € 500 million contract to build the Wrocław bypass in Poland. About 70 % (€ 350 million) of the contract value falls upon the Strabag Group. The project comprises the construction of an approximately 13 km section of the A8 motorway, 0.5 km of the S8 express road and 5.6 km of the Długołęka access road. Construction, scheduled to begin in the first quarter 2009, is expected to last 29 months.

The new order brings Strabag's order backlog in Poland to € 1.5 billion, a near three-fold increase year on year. STRABAG sees Poland, in addition to the Czech Republic, as a leader among the Central and Eastern European markets (with the exception of Russia) in terms of growth and profitability.
