| KBR awarded contracts by Reficar KBR announced that it has been awarded two contracts by Refineria de Cartagena S.A. (Reficar) to provide technology licensing and related services to upgrade its Cartagena refinery's fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) unit. Reficar is a joint venture between Ecopetrol S. A., the national oil company of Colombia, and Glencore International AG. KBR will provide proprietary licensed technology as well as detailed design engineering and procurement services for the project. Work on the project is expected to begin immediately. The Cartagena Refinery is located in the industrial zone of Mamonal of the Cartagena Bay, 30 minutes to the west of the Cartagena city on the northern coast of Colombia. Its location creates a strategic advantage because the Refinery has access to the Gulf Coast and Caribbean markets by the Atlantic Ocean, as well as to the center of the country market by river through the "Canal del Dique" and by existing pipelines. write your comments about the article :: © 2008 Construction News :: home page |
