SCG reports results for Q3 and 9M/2008

Siam Cement Group (SCG) announces operating performance in the third quarter, and nine months of 2008, showing relatively flat performance y-o-y. This satisfactory performance was attributed to strong cement exports and savings from the investments in the Waste-Heat Power Generation (WHG) system.

The unreviewed consolidated financial statements for SCG for the third quarter of fiscal year 2008 (Q3/08) showed total sales of 79,313 MB, an increase of 15% y-o-y. The Operating Profit increased by 6% y-o-y, which can be attributed to strong cement exports and energy savings from the WHG. However, the Net Profit dropped by 21% y-o-y to 5,940 MB as there was a non-recurring after tax gain of approximately 1,920 MB from divestments in Q3/2007.

For the first nine months of fiscal 2008 (9M/08), SCG recorded the total sales of 238,168 MB, y-o-y, an increase of 20% y-o-y. The Operating Profit amounted to 20,001 MB, relatively flat y-o-y, while the Net Profit decreased 18% y-o-y to 20,251 MB, which was attributed to the 4,458 MB non-recurring after tax gain from divestments in 9M/07.

The total assets of SCG as of September 30, 2008 amounted to 283,525 MB.
