| Rautaruukki to open new sales office in Belarus Finnish steel maker Rautaruukki is to open its first sales office in Belarus and will then have operations in 26 countries. Expansion eastwards is a further step in Ruukki's strategic intent to become the industry leader in steel construction in Europe. The construction market in Belarus has been showing strong growth. In the first half of 2008 the construction sector grew by more than 20 per cent (Finpro). Rautaruukki supplies metal-based components, systems and integrated systems to the construction and engineering industries. The company has a wide selection of metal products and services. Rautaruukki has operations in 26 countries and employs 14,990 people. Net sales in 2007 totalled EUR 3.9 billion. The company's share is quoted on the OMX Nordic Exchange Helsinki (Rautaruukki Oyj: RTRKS).
