| Cegelec awarded a turnkey contract in Côte d’Ivoire French engineering company Cegelec has been awarded a turnkey contract to design, build and commission the 111 MW Vridi 2 power plant extension in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire. The nearly 55 million euros project for Bouygues subsidiary Compagnie Ivoirienne de Production d'Electricité (CIPREL) will increase the existing facility's generation capacity by more than 50%. The new unit is scheduled to come on stream in December 2009, lifting the Vridi 2 power plant's generation capacity to 320 MW, or one-quarter of Côte d'Ivoire's total installed power generation capacity. This will reduce the load shedding that affects most major cities in West Africa. write your comments about the article :: © 2008 Construction News :: home page |
