| New building to showcase Luvata's complete façade solution Global metals manufacturing and technology company, Luvata, has been awarded a Scandinavian contract for the company's Nordic System façade. NCC Construction Svergie AB has selected Luvata to provide the façade for Skellefteå Kraft's new headquarters in Skellefteå, Northern Sweden. Luvata's prefabricated Nordic System will cover 4,000m2 of the outside of the building and is perfectly suited for the flexible design and express installation requirements of modern buildings. Luvata's total solution will include Nordic cassettes, panels and profiles, as well as fasteners and flashing made from copper sheets. Allan Savola, Director for Building and Construction of Luvata's Rolled Products Division, said: "Luvata has a great heritage in providing copper products for architecture, which can add significantly to the longevity and architectural appeal of a structure. Luvata's Nordic System façade provides a complete façade system delivered to meet exact specifications with simplified installation. We are confident that the Nordic System selected by NCC will be durable and aesthetically pleasing." Copper facades are increasingly used in modern architecture as they fit well into a dynamic skyline and their flexibility means that limited measurements and dimensions no longer restrict architects and designers. In addition to its flexibility, copper is also 100% recyclable, low maintenance and provides lower life cycle costs than alternative materials. Savola continues: "The selection process by NCC has been thorough - we have worked together with both General Architecture in Stockholm (responsible for the architectural planning of the new building) and the Swedish Royal Technical University (KTH) to conduct environmental research into the use of copper as a façade.
