| Jacobs wins a Land Development Engineer and A/E design contract Construction services company Jacobs Engineering Group announced that its joint venture received a $95 million contract from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Fort Worth District to continue serving as the Land Development Engineer (LDE) and Integrator for multidiscipline design and PM/CM support in the Southwest Region, primarily at Fort Bliss, Texas. Jacobs is in joint venture partnership with Huitt-Zollars for the work. Located in El Paso, Texas, the $4.4 billion Fort Bliss Expansion Program encompasses over 4,500 acres of green field development, over 1,000 acres of major Army airfield area upgrades, and multiple infill projects scattered across 3,000 acres of the historic Fort Bliss main post. Implemented by the U.S. Army to support the global repositioning of soldiers, Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC), and the Grow the Army (GTA) initiatives, these programs represent the largest construction efforts by the U.S. Army since WWII. It is projected that by year 2011, more than 50, 000 soldiers and their family members will be stationed at Fort Bliss. write your comments about the article :: © 2008 Construction News :: home page |
