Vinci signs contract for the MMArena

The City of Le Mans and Le Mans Stadium (LMS), subsidiary of the French builder of major infrastructure projects Vinci Concessions, sign the 35-year concession contract for the future stadium, the "MMArena".

The contract, for a total investment of €100 million, includes the building of a 25,000-seater stadium, including almost 2,000 "privilege" seats and 250 seats in private boxes. The complex will include some 3,500 sq.m of reception areas, a panoramic restaurant and a fitness centre. Le Mans Stadium will operate and maintain the complex for the duration of the concession contract. In addition, the infrastructure will include a hotel that will be incorporated into the football stadium's sporting and business plans.

Payment for the concession-holder will be based on sales from events organised there (football matches, sporting events, concerts, conventions, etc.). The resident club (MUC 72), the main and priority user of the MMArena, will pay fees including a fixed amount and a variable part based on attendance. The Stade du Mans will be the first in France to be given a company name (MMA) in return for a financial participation. Finally, the City of Le Mans is to pay an investment subsidy and an annual flat rate operating subsidy.

The construction work, over a period of 26 months, along with the stadium maintenance, will be carried out by subsidiaries of Vinci Construction France. The stadium will be commissioned for the opening of the 2010-2011 season of the French football championship. This new project kicks off a programme to produce new sports facilities in France.
