Bilfinger Berger leads competition for Hungary's motorway project

German construction group Bilfinger Berger-led consortium expects to reach financial close shortly on a 30-year concession contract to design, finance, build and operate an additional 65-kilometer section of the M6 Motorway in Hungary. The project will have an investment volume of about €500 million and will be directly linked to another section of the M6 currently owned and operated by the group. Bilfinger Berger holds a 45% stake in the project company, Porr of Austria also holds 45% and Egis of France 10%. During the operating phase, the Company will ensure the availability of the motorway in return for contractually-fixed payments from the Hungarian state.

The M6 is a key element in the expansion of Hungary's motorway network. The initial 60-kilometer long stretch was built and put into full operation by Bilfinger Berger in just 20 months and is also based on an availability model. The total investment volume of Bilfinger Berger's road projects in Hungary now amounts to €1 billion.
