| Holcim acquires Spain's Tarmac Iberia Swiss cement maker Holcim said it is buying Spanish firm Tarmac Iberia from Anglo American plc, London for a total consideration of up to EUR 148 million. Completion of the acquisition is subject to regulatory approval which is anticipated to occur by September 2008. Madrid-based Tarmac Iberia is a leading supplier of ready-mix concrete and aggregates. The company's primary markets are located in the Greater Madrid area, on the Mediterranean coast and in Catalonia. Tarmac Iberia employs 460 people. In 2007, the company sold 2.8 million cubic meters of ready-mix concrete and 7.8 million tonnes of aggregates.
