Emcor completes project at San Diego water treatment plant

Emcor Group, Inc. announced that its University Mechanical & Engineering Contractors, Inc. (UMEC) subsidiary in California has completed mechanical piping and equipment installation work on a water treatment plant for the San Diego County Water Authority. San Diego's Twin Oaks Valley Water Treatment Plant is the largest submerged membrane facility in the U.S., producing 100 million gallons of water per day.

UMEC completed all of the facility's plumbing, piping, and sheet metal work inside 14 separate buildings, much of it focused on installing the mechanical systems for an innovative, hollow fiber ultra-filtration membrane system. This membrane has significant advantages over conventional treatment methods, as it reduces the need for chemicals in the processing of drinking water.
