Berger to provide design for bridge in Vietnam

The Berger Group was retained by Da Nang People's Committee (DNPC) to provide feasibility studies and preliminary engineering designs for a new bridge crossing the Han River in Da Nang, Vietnam. Berger's bridge design offered a solution of integrating the bridge into the city, not the city into the bridge. Unlike a high-level bridge, where bridge abutments block and disrupt historic parts of a city, Berger's designs consisted of starting and finishing at the level of the streets, allowing traffic to use the existing transportation network and then simply drive over the bridge, transporting vehicles and people directly into the heart of the city. The ambitious $37 million project is expected to be completed in 2011 and will provide a direct link to the new road connecting to the Da Nang International Airport.
