Turner awarded top construction safety and excellence award

Turner Construction Company was awarded first place in the Associated General Contractors of America 2008 Construction Safety and Excellence Award in the building construction division for large general contractors in the over four million work hours category. The AGC Construction Safety and Excellence Award recognizes companies that have developed and implemented excellent safety and loss prevention programs achieved through management commitment, employee participation, safety training, work site hazard identification and control and safety program innovation.

Turner was honored for providing both its staff and the industry with an OSHA approved on-line 30 hour safety course in both English and Spanish, a seven hour "Tune –Up" safety course that is required every three years of Turner employees, and the company's use of the DBO2 Safety Net System. In addition, Turner was honored for the company's annual "National Safety Stand Downs" that require all Turner jobs nationwide to shut down around a specific holiday for 30 minutes to an hour to focus everyone's efforts on practicing safe work habits everywhere, everyday and the company's consistent 6' fall protection approach to protecting workers from any type of fall hazard.
