Holz-Handwerk, fensterbau/frontale set up another record high

The exhibition duo Holz-Handwerk and fensterbau/frontale in the Exhibition Centre Nuremberg set up another record with some 103,000 trade visitors on the four days of the event from 2-5 April 2008. The fensterbau/frontale and Holz-Handwerk exhibitions have taken place in Nurewmberg at the same time since 1992. Altogether some 63,000 visitors attended the two fairs at that time. The magic mark of 100,000 was just beaten for the first time at the 2006 event. Holz-Handwerk again attracted a large number of mainly carpenters and joiners. 516 exhibitors presented a comprehensive spectrum of products and services for the wood crafts – from manual tools to CNC machines and materials to technical literature.

The integration of new exhibition halls for fensterbau/frontale made it possible to enlarge the effective net display area used and optimize the arrangement of the product segments. The new allocation of hall space also enabled the route through the halls to be improved. This created a pleasant atmosphere for informative talks and negotiations despite some 20 per cent more products from the 760 exhibitors.

With the signing of the "Global Fair Alliance" at fensterbau/frontale 2008, four organizers of leading international exhibitions have laid the foundation for global cooperation. The first phase of the cooperation is fixed at ten years and includes the coordination of the dates of Fenestration China, fensterbau/frontale in Nürnberg, Glass Build America and Istanbul Window/Turkey.

The winners of this year’s „Prize for Innovation in Architecture window and Facade“ have been elected. For the second time, the architectural journals xia IntelligenteArchitektur and AIT have initiated this competition in cooperation with NürnbergMesse at the fensterbau/frontale trade fair. It addresses designers and manufacturers of all kinds of innovative products used in the window and facade sector.

The response to the innovation award was good and came from various industries: The 23 submitted products included facade systems, solar shading and windows. The Innovation Award Architecture Window and Facade was awarded as 1st prize to Fiberline Composites , Middelfart, Denmark for „Fiberline Fassadenelement“.

Further an Innovation Award as Special Mention was given to Eckelt Glas GmbH , Steyr, Austria for “DLS Ecklite Evolution“. Three Innovation Awards as Mentions were awarded to the companies: Glas Marte, Bregenz , Austria for “GM RAILING® Plan“; RAICO Bautechnik GmbH , Pfaffenhausen, Germany for “FRAME+ Aluminium-Fenstersystem in Modulbauweise mit optimierter variabler Wärmedämmung“; Steinzeit Natursteine GmbH , Bonn, Germany for “LOTUSPRO® Fassade “.

In the meantime, the Innovation Award Architecture Window and Facade is the 41th Prize for Innovation of this kind initiated by the AIT and xia IntelligenteArchitektur journals. Innovation competitions for the lighting, flooring, office furniture, sanitation system and HVAC industry as well as the building and construction industry have previously taken place - on the respective trade fairs Light & Building, ISH and Heimtextil in Frankfurt, Domotex in Hanover, Orgatec in Cologne, Deubau in Essen, BAU in Munich, Bautec in Berlin, EuroShop in Düsseldorf, Alten- und Propflege in Hanover and Nuremberg.
