| Atkins scoops Engineering Consultant of the Year Atkins, the multinational design and engineering consultancy, took one of the top gongs last night at the prestigious Building Awards when it was named Engineering Consultant of the Year. Atkins was recognised for its leading role in some of the world's most prestigious and significant projects, including Crossrail, the Dubai Metro and Gautrain, in South Africa. Many of the company's projects are also contributing to changing design in a carbon critical world. The DIFC Lighthouse, for instance, will take sustainable tower design in the Middle East to new levels, reducing energy consumption by 65% and water consumption by 40%. Atkins beat off strong competition from a shortlist which included Buro Happold, Faber Maunsell, Ramboll Whitbybird, White Young Green and WSP Group. write your comments about the article :: © 2008 Construction News :: home page |
