Vestas receives order for 32 wind turbines for Spain

Vestas has received an order for a total of 32 units of the V90-1.8 MW wind turbine for the Mudèfer I and II projects in Spain. The contract includes supply, installation, commissioning, a VestasOnline Business SCADA solution as well as a five-year service agreement.

The Mudèfer projects will be located in the province of Tarragona in the region of Catalonia. The wind power plant, with a total capacity of 57.6 MW, will be the third wind power plant to be established by Vestas in Catalonia. As of 1 January 2008, the region had a total installed capacity of 347 MW and a target of 1,000 MW installed by 2010. Delivery of the wind turbines is scheduled to start in 2009.

The order has been placed by Catalana d'Energíes Renovables, S.L. (CATER), established with capital from Emte S.A., Fersa Energias Renovables S.A. and Vallser S.L., and in February 2008, Fersa acquired 100 per cent of CATER.

The wind power plant will annually save the environment from approx 96,000 tons of CO2 and will be able to meet the electricity needs of more than 35,800 Spanish households.
