| Jacobs chosen to deliver Forth Bridge Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. announced that its joint venture team received a contract from Transport Scotland to design, develop, and project manage the construction of a new cable-stayed bridge across the River Forth. Jacobs is in joint venture with Arup on the contract. Officials estimated the value of the contract at pounds 100 million, one of the biggest transport consulting contracts ever awarded in Scotland. The project is estimated to have a capital value of between pounds 3.2 and pounds 4.2 billion. A study into the area's future transportation needs concluded that a replacement crossing for the existing Forth Road Bridge, which is more than 40 years old, is required to maintain a vital link for the economies of Fife, Edinburgh, and the East coast of Scotland. The joint venture team, which includes Flint & Neill Partnership, Dissing & Weitling, and EC Harris, will provide services across a range of disciplines including architecture and aesthetics, geotechnics, environment and landscaping, budgeting, statutory processes, and health and safety. write your comments about the article :: © 2008 Construction News :: home page |
