| Bilfinger Berger starts 2008 with a major order in Australia German construction giant Bilfinger Berger, together with a partner, is expanding the deep-sea port in Sydney's Botany Bay with five additional berths for large container ships. The order has a total volume of €300 million, of which Bilfinger Berger has a €220 million share. For the expansion, 60 hectares will be dredged and the complete port infrastructure will then be built on this reclaimed land. Port Botany is the continent's second-largest container port and is responsible for a third of total cargo movements. As of 2011, 3.2 million containers will pass through the port each year, thereby doubling the port's current capacity. write your comments about the article :: © 2008 Construction News :: home page |
