| New consortium intensifies toll activities in Russia Satellic, a subsidiary of Germany's IT services provider T-Systems, German electronics and engineering giant Siemens and Austrian construction group Strabag have signed a cooperation agreement to jointly exploit the Russian market for toll systems. Russia is planning a number of large-scale infrastructure projects and these are expected to require a system to collect roadway usage fees. The planned construction of some 3,200 km of new motorways in Russia and Ukraine over the next five years presents the three companies with a significant market potential, which has led to the decision to work together in this field. Satellic and Siemens possess many years of experience in the area of satellite toll systems.
