The 2009 EWEC to take place in Marseille

The 2009 edition of the European Wind Energy Conference (EWEC) will be held in Marseille, France, from 16 to 19 March. "France has one of Europe's strongest wind energy resources and is now experiencing dramatic development, both in wind energy implementation but also in political understanding and support for wind energy. It is therefore no coincidence that the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA) has selected France to host the 2009 European Wind Energy Conference (EWEC), Europe's premier wind event", said Arthouros Zervos, EWEA President.

5000 key players from the European wind energy sector - from decision makers to industry leaders and technical experts - will meet in Marseille for four days of constructive exchange about the forthcoming challenges the European wind industry wants to tackle and the energy and climate solutions wind power brings to Europe.

For the French Wind Energy Association - France Energie Eolienne (FEE) - "EWEC will provide an opportunity to engage political decision makers in France in understanding the positive role that wind energy can play in supporting climate change, and in the set up of regulatory frameworks which will allow us to reach the objective of 20% of renewable energy by 2020".

The Convention Centre, the Parc Chanot, will welcome 200 speakers from across Europe, who will take part in 40 political, technical and scientific sessions. More than 200 exhibitors are expected to showcase their latest technologies across 12,000 square metres of floor space.
