Impregilo builds new hydroelectric plant in Brazil

The consortium led by Italian construction company Impregilo with a 50% share formed with Brazil's OAS company has signed a contract with Consorcio Estreito Energia (CESTE), a private concession company of Brazil's national electric power agency, for construction of the civil engineering works of the Estreito hydroelectric plant on the Tocantins river between the States of Tocantins and Maranhao in Brazil. The total value of the contract is approximately 230 million euro.

The project provides for construction of a concrete dam for a maximum height of 60 metres and a length of approximately 540 metres and a hydroelectric power station with an installed power capacity of 1,087 MW. Work is expected to be completed in the second half of 2010.
