Ballast Nedam and Per Aarsleff build jetty in Saint Martin

The Dutch multinational construction company Ballast Nedam and the Danish company Per Aarsleff have signed a contract with the port authorities of Saint Martin for the construction of a new jetty. The deal is worth well over €45 million. The construction of the new jetty will enable the port to receive six ships per day, instead of four as at present. The new facility will enable the world's largest cruise ships to berth there.

The consortium (50% Ballast Nedam Infra and 50% Per Aarsleff A/S) will start work on the project at the turn of the year. The jetty itself will be ready for use in December 2008, and the site around the terminal will be complete in April 2009.
