Samsung Engineering builds gas plants worth USD1.1bn in Thailand

Samsung Engineering won two contracts worth USD1.1bn in total to build an ESP (Ethane Separation Plant: USD455M) and GSP-6 (Gas Plant Package-6: USD620M) for PTT, a Thai state company. The plants, to be built in the Map ta phut industrial complex in Rayong city, approximately 180km southeast from Bangkok, will process a total of 1.6bn cubic feet per day, boasting the world's largest capacity. Samsung Engineering received the contract on a turnkey basis which includes engineering, procurement, construction and pre-commissioning. The projects are due for completion by March 2010.
