| GaLaBau extends thanks to playground equipment segment At no other exhibition in Germany is the playground industry so strongly represented as at GaLaBau, which takes place as usual in Nuremberg from 17-20 September 2008. The new exhibition name makes this clear: GaLaBau 2008 with special playground section. The Bundesverband der Spielplatzgeräte- und Freizeitanlagen-Hersteller (BSFH), which supports the exhibition with the special show entitled "Cross-Generation Playgrounds", welcomes this development. Visitors at past GaLaBau events have experienced it: Hall 1 of the exhibition centre changes into a huge playground during the exhibition, with swings, slides, monkey bars of wood or plastic and lots more to be marvelled at. Some 70 companies presented play areas, playground equipment, accessories and various kinds of protection against falling at the last GaLaBau. NürnbergMesse expects distinctly more exhibitors in this specific exhibition segment in 2008. Over 53,000 trade visitors came to GaLaBau 2006 in Nuremberg. The results of the survey of visitors at the exhibition show that 23 per cent of them were specifically interested in "playgrounds, leisure facilities and sports grounds". There are new plans for the 2008 exhibition: A European-wide advertising and PR campaign is being started to bring the exhibition to the attention of operators of playgrounds and leisure facilities. Besides the classic target groups like landscape architects, local authorities or housing development companies, more emphasis will be placed on inviting special and often smaller target groups like operators of leisure parks, hotels, camping sites, catering establishments or nursery schools. One attraction for all playground planners and interested visitors in 2008 will be the special show, which is organized in cooperation with BSFH and the trade journal "freizeit & spiel". The theme of the special show is "Cross-Generation Playgrounds". These playgrounds for young and old are very popular at the moment. China and Japan have had such playgrounds for a long time. In Germany, a country with an increasingly older population of people who move less and less, the first projects of this kind are just being implemented. The exhibition city Nürnberg is regarded as a nationwide pioneer in this field. The first public playgrounds of this kind in Nürnberg have been well accepted by the population and more cross-generation playgrounds are planned for 2008. write your comments about the article :: © 2007 Construction News :: home page |
